How to Build a Mudroom Bench Using a Kitchen Cabinet

A mudroom bench can be made yourself from a piece of furniture. You can turn your old kitchen cabinet to a mudroom bench to save your money for decorating your mudroom. How to build a mudroom bench from a kitchen cabinet is easy to do with some simple steps.

In this project, you need two kitchen cabinets that go above refrigerator. The first things you have to do are sand, prime and paint the cabinets. After that, you can level the surface using 2 or 4 inches scrap wood blocks. Attach the blocks with glue wood to the top corners of the cabinets and don’t forget to rip them down to make them level. They should be evenly attached to the edge of the cabinets. the next how to build a mudroom bench step is create the feet by cutting a piece of wood beam into 8 pieces with 4 inches of each. Sand, stain and seal the feet with shellac as the finish touch. The feet can be attached under the corners of the cabinet using wood glue and screw. Make sure they are level by sanding the feet if necessary. Finish the bench top by sanding and staining. After that, you can attach the bench top on the top of the cabinets by inserting screws to the corners of the cabinets. Make sure the bench top centered and square and the screws hit the scrap wood underneath. Fill the wood screw with wood filler and let it dry before sanding. Apply at least three coats of sealer to protect the bench and allow it to dry.
